Fresh concerns around my asexuality. Looking into the definition and maybe I'm not ace.

Do I feel sexual attraction? Yes. Extremely rarely. But I do.

Do I want to? No.

Do I see relationships more from an aro angle? Yes, absolutely. 100%. Always have.

Good old I-wish-I-was-X, but you really aren't X.

And it's not because I feel close to a person. That's not when I feel the sexual attraction. So I'm not thinking graysexual.

Also traummaaaaa ughhhh. Need to see a good therapist.

Wow huge typo here.

Correction: Do I see relationships from a romantic* angle?

@ru Paging @human_dude - this made me think of your ace week posts about the difficulty of pinning down ace identities?

@ru This might not be helpful, but a different perspective:

The older I get, the less I care about having these kinds of precise labels for sexuality or gender. For myself, I can understand who I am without trying to find a single word to encompass it all. And for others, if I know which umbrella they are under that's a basis for getting to know them properly.

@ru

Labels exist as a short-hand to describe what you're like to others. They don't exist to put you in a box.

You might consider using a fuzzier label in environments where it is safe to do so. For instance describing yourself as "mostly ace" around your close friends.

Strangers should get the broadest label to shut them down. Never feel bad about this. You owe them no explanation nor elaboration.
